Our Team, Our Community

ICS is a woman-owned accessibility company based in New York, founded in 2016 by two interpreters. We provide sign language and spoken language interpreting, translation, captioning, and accessible media services across the Northeast and beyond.

Our team reflects the communities we serve: we are Deaf, hard-of-hearing, multilingual, interpreters, advocates, and allies, working mostly remote and loving every bit of the collaboration.

Accessibility isn't just our profession, it's personal.

ICS was shaped by the guidance of our local communities, and we give back through pro bono services for non-profit and arts organizations.

Our Story

A Decade of Inclusion

How it all started

ICS began with two interpreters, Tyler Herron and Shelby Edwards, who grew from students into professionals together in New York City.

Working in minority-sensitive and multiple-disability interpreting, they kept running into the same gap: these communities were overlooked and overgeneralized by standard accommodation practice, and a consumer's full identity and language profile rarely reached the person assigning their interpreter.

In 2016, they co-founded ICS to close that gap, matching each consumer's complete profile to the interpreter, translator, or caption provider who actually fits.

Since then, ICS has expanded throughout the Northeast and continues to raise the bar for the profession through ethical service, ongoing professional development, provider-friendly contracts, and initiatives that give back to the community.
